How it all began
SALT was established in 2006 by just one dedicated individual who initially set out on a mission to combat gambling and violence by providing football as a healthy alternative. Over the years our vision has expanded into something greater with a new focus on education, coaching, discipleship, and more.
Our journey began with community coaching in 2006 and from there we included leagues in 2007. In line with our new vision we began the Mighty Girls program to empower young women in 2010, introduced festivals and other sorts of community work in 2012, and added our Mighty Men’s program in 2020. Today, with a dedicated team of 15 passionate individuals, we have extended our impact far beyond our early aspirations.
At SALT we are committed to nurturing communities, promoting positive values, and building a future for our youth: A future where a beautiful clash of sports, education, and discipleship are uniting, inspiring, and transforming lives.
Our Mission
SALT brings the Good News well beyond SALT’s expected reach through the powerful principle of multiplication. SALT invests full time in 40 youth who invest into thousands in their communities on a weekly basis
Our Vision
Championing youth to see God’s kingdom multiplied through sports, education, and discipleship
Statement of Faith
2006
SALT has been working in Cambodia ever since 2006.
Ly Luot
Former Mighty Girl
The Mighty Girls program has great significance in my life, I learned not only how to play soccer but how to lead, deal with the pain of my past and be confident. I received encouragement, education, an understanding of other cultures, and love. Now I am part of passing those same things onto the next generation of Mighty Girls as a SALT staff. My greatest desire is to be the same kind of example to these Mighty Girls that I had.

Current Mighty Girl
It’s been two years since I was rescued into the Mighty Girls program. I never knew something like this could exist. I really love it here. I’ve grown & learned so much. The most important thing that SALT has shared with me was the love of Jesus Christ. When I’m teased for how dark I am, it’s Him that I lean into for my identity.
Jeff Rasmussen
SALT Director
In 2018, I heard about the structure of SALT & could see the potential multiplication that its ministries could have. This was a “Here I am, send me!” moment in my life. Over the last 5 years it’s been clear that something very special, very unique is happening. The SALT staff and myself understand the response to a movement of God. Giving it your all. Are you ready to join?

Recently Graduated Mighty Girl
I graduated from the Mighty Girl program in 2022. I’m now studying to be a doctor at Life University on a full ride football scholarship. Before becoming a Mighty Girl, I was a person who was paralyzed with fear & shyness. Because of the Mighty Girl program, my life has done a complete 180, I’m no longer that petrified girl. I’m bold and ready to catch the opportunities that are presented.

Current Mighty Man
SALT came alongside my family in a very desperate season for us. My family’s sole provider (our grandma) got sick. We didn’t have money for bills or even rice to eat. SALT not only helped with our immediate physical needs but accepted me in the Mighty Men program. My sponsorship in the Mighty Men program has provided me with a great education, leadership development, and an entire host of skills that will help me to one day provide for my grandma like she has provided for me and my siblings.
Moving Forward
Growing out:
SALT’s powerful multiplication methods through soccer have been picked up and are being used by other ministries around Cambodia. SALT has targeted 6 locations where we have begun to equip, prepare & train the workers to be able to run SALT’s replicable programs. SALT desires to see this continue to spread throughout Cambodia and even to the neighboring nations. How great it would be to see Mighty Girls & Men trained up and sent out as missionaries to closed nations and to pioneer SALT in those places!
Growing deeper:
The “Mighty Development program” will provide a similar program to the Mighty Girls & Mighty Men however it would be targeted to 9-13 year olds. The heart of the program is to begin SALT’s great discipleship, education & soccer training in some of the Mighty Member’s most formative years. Setting these younglings on an early path that will forever change their lives for the better.Let’s connect
